I'm Chef Chris Casner and I have been in the food service business for over 20 years. I started my career as a dishwasher and quickly learned that I wanted to move into working with food like "the other guys". I was always interested in how things were created, and food is no exception.
I quickly moved up the ranks from dishwasher, to prep cook, to line cook and eventually the position of Executive Chef. My skills were able to take me to multiple upscale restaurants in the Raleigh, NC area, which is where I grew up. I learned valuable lessons while working with top notch Chefs as well as gaining experience and knowledge to enhance my skills.
I attended Johnson and Wales University in Charleston, SC, and graduated in 1994 with a degree in Culinary Arts. There was no turning back at that moment, as I knew I had just taken the next step in my lifelong journey with this career.
Since graduating from JWU, I have held Executive Chef positions with several high end establishments in and around Raleigh and Charleston. During this time, I realized that my passion lay with catering, becoming a personal chef and teaching others my craft. I get enjoyment out of "taking the heat" off of others and allowing them to enjoy their free time while I create their event's meal. I love being able to teach others to prepare meals for their friends and family, as being able to cook is an invaluable skill. I'm a true believer in the old proverb "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime". I can teach you to cook that fish.
